Explain Total Internal Reflection.

Total Internal Reflection
When angle of incidence is greater than critical angle then light returns in the same medium from the interface this phenomenon is called total internal reflection of light.

When light goes from denser to rarer medium , it bends away from normal and with increase in value of angle of incident then angle of reflection also increases. when angle of incident become critical angle then angle of refraction become 90°. Angle of incident is greater than critical angle then light returns in same medium interface. This phenomenon is called total internal reflection of light.
Critical angle = The value of angle of incidence in denser medium for which angle of refraction is 90° then that  angle of incidence is called critical angle. It is denoted by C.
Note- Remember that time for total internal reflection, light must travel from a denser medium to rarer medium and angle of incidence of light in denser medium must at least be equal to or greater than the critical angle for the pair of media in contact. Common laws of reflection are followed in total internal reflection.
